Who are we?
We are Stenon, an ag-tech startup that is changing how farmers interact with their most important resource: soil. With our innovative IoT solution consisting of smart sensor fusion, artificial intelligence, and data analysis, we help make better-informed cultivation decisions to drive productivity and profitability while increasing soil health and sustainability.
Position
We are looking for a (Senior) Full Stack Web Engineer familiar with NodeJS, TypeScript and React, who will drive our Web-Application.
The Web-Application serves as the central place where users from all of our supported regions around the globe are interacting with our data. It is responsible for collecting, evaluating and visualizing spatial data over time from a number of geographical data sources including our own internal ones. The application also focuses on generating agronomic value for our customers by calculating fertilizer demands for specific crops and regions, letting users know about equivalent CO2 captured in soil as well as exporting actionable data to various formats, e.g. as a map that can directly be loaded in a tractor.
The backend application is a Node application running on AWS which performs most of the heavy lifting with regards to geo-spatial data processing and is connected to various other systems within our cloud infrastructure. The frontend is a React application that handles rendering and processing of GeoJSON data using MapboxGL among many other functions including real-time communication.
You will
- Design, build and implement localized geospatial features for customers in various regions in the frontend. This includes plotting geospatial soil and satellite data on interactive maps, allowing customers to plan fertilizations with custom interfaces and more.
- Design, build, and maintain robust backend services that support the frontend and enable seamless 3rd-party data integrations. These services will interact with other systems including cloud functions and a PostGIS enabled database.
- Be part of ideation and product development together with our web-application product manager and others.
- Contribute to defining the technical roadmap in collaboration with Engineering Leadership and the CTO.
You have
- Customer Focused: You measure the success of your work with the actual value created for the user and the business. You don't consider your job to be done until you receive this feedback.
- Experienced & Up To Code: You have 3+ years hands-on experience with writing clean and maintainable code in multiple languages (e.g. TypeScript/NodeJS, JavaScript). You always strive to pick the appropriate tools and technologies for the given problem.
- End-to-end ownership: You take ownership of the full development lifecycle: Ideation, planning, prototyping, coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring systems in production.
- A Problem Solver: You enjoy solving challenging problems. You are comfortable starting with problems as the input to your work instead of highly detailed lists of tasks. You enjoy understanding problems in detail, becoming an expert in them and then working to implement solutions that can be validated with the team and our customers.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with “Lean startup” practices, ability to operate in an agile environment
- Experience working with geo-spatial data
Python skills
What we offer
- The opportunity to build technology that has a direct, tangible impact on global food production and climate health.
- A role within a highly productive and supportive team full of dedicated, hard-working professionals.
- Freedom to solve real-world problems and to own your area of responsibility.
- An agile work environment with flat hierarchies and an international team.
- Work remotely in Germany up to 5 days a week, with a mandatory monthly team office day in Potsdam for strategic alignment and team building.
- Annual company holiday retreat outside of Germany (where it is warmer!) and regular team events.
- Access to the company coffee machine, tea, snacks, and of course regular team social events/gatherings.
- ABC Berlin/Potsdam Travel pass.
- A company-provided laptop.
