Azure Cloud Data Engineer (Contract)

Engagement Details

• Type: Freelance contract, ASAP start. Initial 3 to 6 months with extension highly likely on an ongoing programme.

• Workload: Full-time, 5 days per week.

• Setup: Predominantly remote. Occasional onsite presence in the Stuttgart region for PI plannings, roughly 2 to 3 days per quarter.

• Eligibility: EU-based freelancers only. Strong professional English and German at B2 minimum.

Steadman & Chase is partnered with one of the world's largest professional services firms on a high-profile automotive and e-mobility cloud programme. The engagement sits within an established platform engineering team building production-grade Azure infrastructure for a long-running transformation across data, AI and cloud.

This is a freelance contract engagement, not a permanent role.

The team supports organisations from strategy through the development and integration of future-proof applications, to the transformation of large IT organisations towards greater agility and the migration of complex IT landscapes to the cloud. Make a difference on this engagement as an Azure Cloud Engineer (Terraform / Databricks).

• Build out and continue developing a scalable, secure Azure cloud platform supporting a complex automotive and e-mobility data landscape.

• Design, implement and maintain Azure infrastructure with Terraform at scale, with a clear focus on networking and storage.

• Work alongside Databricks workloads, ensuring the underlying infrastructure properly supports production data engineering and analytics.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins for reliable, repeatable deployments.

• Collaborate across design, implementation and operations teams on a mix of hands-on delivery and platform-level conceptual work.

• Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure, particularly networking and storage.

• Proven Terraform delivery at scale in production environments.

• Strong working experience with Databricks in production.

• Practical experience operating CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins.

• Track record in cloud platform or infrastructure engineering roles, ideally with exposure to large enterprise programmes.

• Professional English plus German at B2 minimum.

• Willingness to attend Stuttgart onsites for quarterly PI plannings.

• Engage on a high-profile automotive / e-mobility programme delivered through one of the world’s leading professional services firms.

• Operate inside an established engineering team building production-grade Azure infrastructure with modern tooling.

• Predominantly remote working model, with occasional onsite collaboration in the Stuttgart region for PI plannings.
