## Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer (all genders) with a strong background in microservices architecture, as well as good expertise in Elixir / Ruby programming languages. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our Booking and Marketing engineering team, designing, developing, and maintaining our software applications and services. Join our dynamic and innovative team to build scalable and robust microservice-based applications. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our products and contribute to the growth and success of our organization. This role could be hybrid (Munich/Berlin) or fully remote.  

## Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and implement scalable microservice architecture solutions using Elixir and Ruby.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, product designers, and engineers, to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
* Lead the design and development of new software features and enhancements, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to best practices.
* Optimize and refactor existing codebase for improved performance, scalability, and maintainability.
* Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to ensure they meet functional and performance requirements.
* Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and promoting best coding practices.
* Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure seamless deployment and operation of microservices in a distributed environment (with Kubernetes and RabbitMQ).
* Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality standards are met.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies.

## Qualifications

* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and a continuous learning mindset.
* Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Solid understanding of microservice architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
* Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
* Proficient in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
* Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
* Good experience in Elixir or Ruby programming languages (including relevant frameworks: Phoenix, Rails).
* Or a strong proficiency with other modern programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java and willing to learn Elixir and Ruby.
* Knowledge of cloud platforms and services, especially AWS or GCP.
* Familiarity with message queue systems like RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka.
* Understanding of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.
* Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in the developer community are nice to have.
