Ribbon Bio, a growth stage synthetic biology company that specializes in the synthesis of long and highly complex DNA molecules is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our expanding Data Operations team. This position is a key intermediary between our Commercial, Operations, and Finance teams and tasked with designing, implementing, and supporting applications that integrate our Business and Production systems.

In this role, you will be a crucial part of developing our data-driven manufacturing and fulfillment processes by extending the integration of our Business Systems (including CRM and ERP) with our Production Systems (advanced algorithms and laboratory automation). We are seeking a growth-minded, highly communicative candidate that enjoys working in a fast-paced, evolving environment built on trust, innovation, and excellence.

Tasks

  • Build and maintain integrations connecting CRM, ERP, MES, and production systems—sometimes from scratch.
  • Build ETL/ELT workflows that are robust, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Collaborate with scientists, manufacturing engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and system requirements.
  • Assist with dashboards, reporting tools, and analytics models powered by integrated datasets.
  • Troubleshoot data issues across systems with an eye toward long-term reliability.
  • Contribute to the development of internal APIs and other software engineering tasks related to data infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or related technical roles.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with SQL and at least one programming language (Python preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with APIs, webhooks, and integration tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Understanding of CRM/ERP systems — bonus points if you’ve touched Salesforce and Business Central/MS Dynamics.
  • Experience with building, configuring, and supporting CRM and ERP systems preferably in the life sciences industry.
  • Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect) or containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Knowledge & Skills Abilities

  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop recommendations / solutions.
  • Eagerness to learn how data flows in regulated environments and across scientific/production systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative growth mindset.
  • Exposure to life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical operations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Managemnt Systems (LIMS) is a plus.

We offer annual gross salary starting from EUR 50.000,- depending on qualification and experience.

Job type: Full-time (40 h per week), hybrid
