We are looking for a Software Developer to become the first engineer at RedTrack hired specifically for a spec-driven, AI-first development model.
This is a new approach for us. Rather than focusing primarily on writing code, the role puts strong emphasis on turning requirements into precise technical specifications, identifying ambiguity and hidden assumptions before implementation, and defining how the solution should behave under real-world conditions.
As the first developer joining RedTrack in this model, you will also help us learn, refine, and establish how spec-driven, AI-assisted engineering should work in practice.
Tasks
- Turn product and technical requirements into clear, implementation-ready specifications.
- Identify ambiguity, hidden assumptions, constraints, failure scenarios, and technical risks before implementation begins.
- Use AI agents to implement solutions by providing specifications, context, constraints, and acceptance criteria, and guiding implementation iterations.
- Review and verify AI-generated and unfamiliar code for correctness, architectural fit, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Design reliable backend components and data access patterns for production-scale systems.
- Validate solutions through testing, benchmarking, profiling, runtime metrics, and other relevant evidence.
- Investigate failures and continuously improve engineering guardrails, tooling, specifications, and AI-agent instructions.
Requirements
- Strong backend software engineering experience.
- Strong ability to translate ambiguous requirements into precise technical specifications.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, databases, concurrency, performance, scalability, and failure handling.
- Ability to critically review and reason about code, including code you did not write yourself.
- Strong testing, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with CI/CD, observability, and production engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools or a strong interest in AI-assisted development.
- High level of ownership and ability to work independently in a new and evolving engineering model.
- English sufficient for technical communication and documentation.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation and stock option program
- Fully remote setup with flexible working hours
- 21 paid vacation days plus 10 paid personal holidays
- Paid sick leave and maternity/paternity leave
- A collaborative team culture built on ownership, clarity, and trust
- Opportunities for professional growth, experimentation, and real impact
- Team offsites and conference trips - we love connecting offline too
If you’re excited about building software in a new way and want to help shape how spec-driven, AI-first engineering works in practice, we’d love to hear from you.
