As a Safety & Health Officer (SHO) for our Dipsol Selangor site, you will be responsible for leading occupational safety and health programs to ensure compliance with Malaysian regulatory requirements, QH company EHS standards, and industry best practices. The incumbent acts as the competent person registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH/JKKP) and provides professional advice to management on workplace safety, risk management, accident prevention, and legal compliance. The role is critical in fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Tasks

Safety Leadership

  • Promote and drive a positive safety culture across the organization.
  • Advise management on occupational safety and health matters.
  • Lead safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Act as a change agent for EHS excellence.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, and related regulations.
  • Maintain all statutory safety records, permits, licenses, and reports.
  • Liaise with government authorities, including DOSH/JKKP, during inspections and audits.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Management

  • Conduct HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control) studies.
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Review work processes to eliminate or reduce safety risks.
  • Ensure compliance with safe work procedures and permit-to-work systems.
  • Process Safety & IMS Management System

Incident Investigation

  • Investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses, and occupational illnesses.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor closure of investigation findings.

Safety Inspections & Audits

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and EHS audits.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance.
  • Track corrective actions and ensure timely closure.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct employee safety induction programs.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety campaigns.
  • Support competency development and safety training initiatives.
  • Promote employee engagement in safety activities.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Organize fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency simulations.
  • Coordinate Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities.

Occupational Health Programs

  • Support industrial hygiene monitoring activities.
  • Coordinate health surveillance and medical monitoring programs.
  • Assist in ergonomics and wellness initiatives.

Requirements

Essential

  • Registered DOSH/JKKP Safety & Health Officer (SHO).
  • Valid DOSH Green Book (Buku Hijau) Holder.
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian occupational safety and health legislation.

Preferred

  • ISO 45001/ ISO 14001 Internal Auditor certification.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Emergency Response Team (ERT) certification.
  • Additional industrial safety qualifications.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, construction, or heavy industry.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory authorities and compliance audits.
  • Proven experience in incident investigation and risk management.
