Sales Executive - Heavy Machinery

Under the supervision of the Sales Director, the Sales Executive is responsible for driving sales growth, developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring excellent service delivery to SMT Ghana customers. The role involves promoting and selling trucks, heavy-duty equipment, machinery, and related solutions while consistently meeting or exceeding assigned sales targets.

The Sales Executive serves as a key representative of the company and is expected to maintain high professional standards, provide technical and commercial guidance to clients, and contribute to the company’s overall market growth and customer satisfaction.

Tasks

3.1 Sales & Business Development

  • Promote and sell trucks, heavy equipment, machinery, spare parts, and related services.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territories and sectors.
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, industry trends, and competitor activities.
  • Generate and follow up on sales leads, referrals, and prospects.
  • Develop and maintain an active sales pipeline.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, quotations, and proposals to clients.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, and commercial terms within approved company guidelines.
  • Secure customer orders, deposits, and contractual agreements.

3.2 Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Advise customers on suitable trucks and machinery based on operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and follow-up meetings.
    Ensure excellent customer experience before, during, and after sales.
  • Address customer concerns, complaints, and technical inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and support debt recovery processes.

3.3 Product Knowledge & Technical Support

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company products, specifications, pricing, applications, and warranties.
  • Explain product features, benefits, and maintenance requirements to customers.
  • Support customers with equipment selection based on operational efficiency and productivity needs.
  • Participate in product demonstrations and equipment inspections.
  • Stay informed about competitor products and market positioning.

3.4 Marketing & Brand Representation

  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, roadshows, and promotional activities.
  • Support marketing campaigns aimed at increasing product visibility and sales.
  • Promote special offers, stock clearance initiatives, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Maintain positive brand visibility in assigned regions and industries.

3.5 Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales activity reports.
  • Maintain accurate customer and sales records within company systems.
  • Report lost sales opportunities and competitor activities.
  • Monitor market trends and provide feedback to management.
  • Ensure all sales documentation and paperwork are completed accurately and on time
  • Compile price sheets, quotations, and commercial documentation.
  • Schedule customer appointments, calls, and meetings effectively.

3.6 Team Support & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal departments including Finance, Service, Parts, Logistics, and Administration.
  • Support onboarding and on-the-job training of new sales staff.
  • Share market intelligence and customer feedback with management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes and customer service standards.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles
  • Experience in the security services industry or related sectors (facilities management, logistics, or outsourcing) is highly preferred
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales target
  • Strong understanding of tendering and contract negotiation processes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools
  • Strong network within Ghana’s corporate and industrial sectors is an advantage
  • Candidate must be able to drive and possess a driving license

Salary: Ghc 13,000 Net
