Engineering Manager / Lead Software Engineer - Shopify (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Lead and develop a group of up to 10 software engineers, both professionally and disciplinarily
• Lead the replatforming of our medimops webshop to Shopify, ensuring maintainability and extendability of all customizations
• Contribute hands-on to the design and implementation of the new platform, with focus on performance, resilience, and great user experience
• Lead towards a new era of our medimops shop in close collaboration with product teams, tech leads, and POs — ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams
• Drive the technical vision and strategy together with other tech leads
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and self-organization within and across teams
• Continuously improve our CI/CD pipelines and development processes

Your profile

• Hands-on experience with the Shopify Plus ecosystem, including:

• Liquid templating and Remix app development,
• Building and integrating custom Shopify apps and webhooks,

• Resilient consumption, error handling, and monitoring of external integrations

• Solid knowledge of frontend technologies like React, Remix, and Typescript

• Proven leadership experience with engineering teams in agile environments, including disciplinary responsibility

• Experience in building and maintaining large-scale, high-traffic platforms with strong uptime requirements
• Enthusiasm for building reliable, scalable systems that combine strong engineering with great user experience
• Strong communication and business fluent English language skills (German is a plus)

Nice to have

• Familiarity with end-to-end testing using frameworks like Playwright
• Understanding of modern frontend performance, observability, and monitoring best practices
• Experience with Typescript, Python, and MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture principles to keep complex systems maintainable
