Tasks
You will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and liaise daily with colleagues in the regional legal department, as well as work closely with the business units throughout Germany, Europe and North Africa.
Your new role is a greenfield opportunity, and you will work in English, which is the working language at corporate level.
- Maintain and deliver a scalable compliance and corporate governance platform across the region
- Train and advise management and staff in compliance and investigations matters at national and international level
- Deliver internal training seminars on anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-trust issues
- Ensure Business Unit managers understand the importance of internal review and investigation policies and procedures and safeguard the group’s reputation across all its commercial undertakings
- Conduct and manage projects to investigate incidences of irregularities and of compliance violations, advising on changes or additions to the compliance management system locally
- Liaise regularly with and report to the US-based Chief Compliance Officer and the Germany-based Deputy General Counsel
- Assume the role as main contact person for external parties (such as law firms, auditors and regulators) in the Europe and North Africa region.
Requirements
- Lawyer, auditor or certified compliance professional (jurisdiction neutral)
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in a globally active corporation or (international) professional services business
- Understanding of operational business processes and decision-making procedures
- Practical and solution-oriented approach to work
- High level of agility and assertiveness, as well as the willingness and desire to familiarise yourself with new situations and act in a solution-oriented manner, both independently and as part of teams with different compositions (operational, legal, compliance)
- Strong quality awareness coupled with leadership skills, a sense of responsibility and integrity
- Communication and presentation skills with a strong focus on cultural awareness and differences
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Preferred foreign languages are Arabic, French or Slavic
