BI Engineer

Overview: We are seeking a BI Engineer to build, scale, and maintain enterprise Power BI solutions and robust data models. In this role, you will bridge business requirements with modern data architecture. Joining our team, you will collaborate directly with stakeholders, integrate diverse cloud data sources, and enforce enterprise-grade security to drive data-informed decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards, and app workspaces tailored to business user requirements.
• Develop complex calculations using DAX, manipulating filter contexts for time-intelligence, N-month roll-back analysis, and custom KPIs.
• Build scalable, optimized data models using star schemas and standardized date tables to minimize report size and maximize query performance.
• Implement advanced Power BI functionality, including custom tooltips, field parameters, dynamic bookmarks, and comparison slicers.
• Use Tabular Editor to manage Calculation Groups, reducing total measure count and streamlining model maintenance.
• Enforce security protocols across environments by defining and managing Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
• Perform data cleaning, transformation, and validation using Power Query (M language) and foundational SQL queries.
• Integrate data from diverse sources, including API, on-prem SQL servers, Sharepoint and Google Analytics.
• Manage MS Fabric configurations, including gateway connections, scheduled refreshes, workspace administration, and security assignments.
• Apply IBCS (International Business Communication Standards) and minimalist UI/UX principles to ensure high visual clarity for key metrics.
• Partner directly with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical specifications and database structure definitions.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, Data Analyst, or BI Engineer in an enterprise environment.
• Deep technical command of Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M Language), and tabular data modeling.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying, validating data against source databases, and defining staging table structures.
• Hands-on experience using external developer tools like Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
• Demonstrated ability to implement security architectures (RLS/OLS) and manage MS Fabric administration.
• Familiarity with cloud and enterprise data platforms (Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, SAP, SharePoint).
• Exposure to version control and developer utilities, including GitHub, VS Code, or Python.
• Functional understanding of financial and business operations (e.g., invoicing, payroll, AP/AR, performance tracking).
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken) for managing client requirements and stakeholder relationships.
