Mandatory Internship(Unpaid): Agentic Backend / Full-Stack Developer(NodeJS/Typescript) for AI SaaS

IndieKidz GmbH is a Berlin-based early stage startup building creative learning products for children.

Our software product, Occibo, is an AI-assisted children’s book creation platform. It helps authors, parents, teachers, and small publishers turn a manuscript into a complete children’s book workflow, including editing, illustration planning, character consistency, layout, export, and promotional assets.

We are looking for a motivated Backend / Full-Stack Developer Intern to support the development of Occibo mainly open to work in early stage startup.

Duration: 3–6 months / Compensation: Unpaid mandatory internship

You will work on the technical development of Occibo, mainly on backend services, APIs, database logic, file handling, AI workflow integration, and selected full-stack features.

This role is ideal for a student who wants hands-on experience building a real SaaS product using modern backend and AI infrastructure.

1. Build and improve backend APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and Express.js
2. Work with Supabase for database, authentication, and data management
3. Good to have: Expereince in Langchain/Langgraph/Mastra
4. Support file storage workflows using Cloudflare R2
5. Help build AI workflow orchestration for book creation, illustration, layout, and export
6. Work with queue-based processing using Redis and BullMQ
7. Support integration with AI image-generation workflows such as ComfyUI
8. Create clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
9. Debug, test, and improve existing backend services
10. Support selected frontend or full-stack tasks when needed
11. Collaborate with product, design, and content team members

• You have hands-on knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript
• Preference would be given you have strong knoweldge in AI Agentic frameworks like Langchain, Langgraph, Mastra
• You understand backend development, APIs, databases, and Git
• You are interested in early stage AI, SaaS products, and product development
• You can work independently in a remote setup
• You write clean code and are willing to learn
• You are reliable, curious, and proactive
