Professional Tasks (Key Responsibilities)
Public Procurement Expertise: Lead legal strategies for participation in public tenders; ensure all bids and contracts comply with national and EU-wide public procurement laws (e.g., GWB, VgV in Germany).
Contract Negotiation: Lead the drafting and negotiation of complex, multi-year defence procurement contracts with government entities and Tier-1 international partners.
Export Control & Regulatory: Oversee strict adherence to international export control regimes (ITAR, EAR, BAFA) and manage technical technology transfer (ToT) legalities.
Risk & Litigation: Identify potential liabilities in government-facing projects and manage dispute resolution, arbitration, and litigation.
Corporate Governance: Advise the executive board on corporate structuring, joint ventures, and M&A activities within the defence sector.
Requirements
Work Experience
10–15+ years of legal experience, with a significant tenure in the Defence, Aerospace, or Specialized Manufacturing sectors, or in large-scale public infrastructure and construction projects.
Proven track record in Public Procurement: Extensive experience handling government defence contracts and navigating the complexities of public bidding processes, including construction procurement (e.g., German VOB/A or equivalent regulations).
Professional Competencies
Procurement Law Specialist: Deep expertise in Public Procurement Law (Vergaberecht) and and solid knowledge of Construction Procurement Law (VOB), particularly in the context of security-critical or military infrastructures.
Regulatory Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of international trade laws, export controls (ITAR/EAR), and IP protection.
Corporate & Commercial Law: Strong background in international commercial law and corporate governance.
Compliance Expertise: Experience in building or leading corporate compliance programs (Anti-Corruption, AML, Data Protection).
Soft Skills
