Tasks
As VP Engineering will lead the modernization of a live, revenue-backed SaaS platform in a bootstrapped, cash-flow-positive, non-bureaucratic environment and own predictable delivery end-to-end.
- Lead, coach, and grow Engineering & QA; hire and develop top talent
- Own delivery reliability: capacity planning, realistic estimates, sprint commitments, and trade-offs
- Be the single point of contact for the CEO on effort and risk; provide quick ballpark estimates
- Partner with Product to sequence the roadmap and align scope, timelines, and resources
- Drive architecture modernization while keeping the platform stable; balance features vs. tech debt & documentation
- Strengthen QA with automation, quality gates, and disciplined releases
- Oversee CI/CD, monitoring, on-call, and cloud cost efficiency; introduce pragmatic AI tooling
Requirements
- 7+ years in software engineering, incl. 3+ years leading teams in a B2B SaaS scale-up
- Hands-on with our stack and loves to dive into code
- Proven delivery record: reliable estimates and on-time execution in fast-moving environments
- Strong architecture & systems design; confident making sound trade-offs
- Experience building/maturing QA, CI/CD, and release processes
- Security-aware; ideally familiar with ISO-style controls and secure development practices
- Excellent communicator and coach; fluent in English (German a plus)
