As an FAI Senior Consultant, you will bring strong scientific and technical knowledge of the production, sustainability and welfare aspects within commercial farmed animal supply chains to the team. You will have worked with or in livestock supply chains for over five years. You will have experience of working with farmers and meat suppliers and/or food businesses as well as external stakeholders. You will have either existing project and client management expertise or a drive to develop these skills. You should be able to clearly communicate technical and practical aspects related to farmed animal production, in line with relevant animal welfare policies, legislation and scientific literature. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with strong technical expertise in either dairy or pork.
The Senior Consultant will join the expanding team at FAI, this role is a 12-month maternity cover position, with scope for full time employment for the right candidate.
Tasks
- Working with Senior Client Account Managers and Client Account Managers to deliver consultancy services including technical expertise across FAI’s client programmes this includes but is not limited to: desk-based research, preparation and delivery of technical material, reports (including reports based on data from our client supply chains), presentations, standards development and case studies.
- Participation in client, supply chain and, where applicable, farmer or other stakeholder meetings
- Responsibility for the planning, implementation, delivery and management of client projects
- Identify new business opportunities to deliver growth as part of wider FAI team
Requirements
1) Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Degree level qualification in Agriculture or similar discipline
- At least 5 years’ experience of working with livestock supply chains and/or agri- food businesses.
- Experience in building stakeholder relations and working collaboratively with team members and partners to understand and deliver value to clients
- Excellent computer skills
Desirable
- Skills in project management, including proposal writing, project planning, budgeting and monitoring
- Specialist technical knowledge in dairy or pork
