We are seeking an experienced Azure Databricks Platform Architect to lead the design, governance, and implementation of enterprise-scale data platform solutions on Azure Databricks and Microsoft Azure.
This role requires a strong combination of strategic architecture capability and hands-on engineering expertise. The successful candidate will take ownership of the Databricks platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, automated, and aligned with enterprise cloud architecture standards.
Tasks
- Design and implement enterprise-scale Azure Databricks platform architectures
- Define and govern Databricks workspace structures, cluster policies, and operational workflows
- Lead implementation of Unity Catalog governance models, permissions, lineage, auditability, and external locations
- Establish secure Azure networking patterns including VNet injection, Private Link, and private endpoints
- Implement identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC/ABAC, managed identities, service principals, and Key Vault integrations
- Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD frameworks using Terraform/Bicep with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Ensure alignment with Microsoft Well-Architected principles and cloud governance standards
- Drive platform automation, operational maturity, cost governance, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate architecture decisions into practical implementation guidance
Requirements
- Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks platform engineering and architecture
Deep experience designing enterprise Databricks environments, including:
- Workspace architecture
- Cluster governance
- Jobs and Workflows orchestration
Platform operations and scalability
- Advanced knowledge of Unity Catalog governance and security models
- Strong Azure security and identity management expertise
- Experience with secure cloud networking patterns for enterprise data platforms
- Solid Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD experience using Terraform or Bicep
- Strong understanding of enterprise cloud governance and operational best practices
- Ability to operate independently in consulting or fast-paced delivery environments
