Brightflow is a growing medical device start-up, aiming to revolutionize the field of cardiac assist device. The goal is to develop a novel and unique device for long-term implantation. The company was founded in 2019 and raised already substantial seed funding.
To join the R&D team. Under the direction of the CTO, the Senior Electronics Engineer will be responsible for conducting and managing design and development activities of our implantable assist device.
Tasks
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and driving R&D projects.
- Defining the design specifications and test strategies.
- Designing, building, testing and evaluating of prototypes.
- Setting up of internal prototyping facilities.
- Selecting vendors and external collaboration partners.
The role will substantially determine the technical strategy, but also the culture of the company.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced start-up environment with quick communication, rapid iterative design and prototyping work, and strong organizational skills. The ability to juggle multiple short and long-term deadlines is a must. Ability to prioritize is critical to the success of this role.

- Experience with the development of class-III implants, or other highly regulated electronics products.
- Experience with Electronics CAD (Altium or similar), creation of Printed Circuit Boards.
- Experience with motor driving circuitry and digital control systems.
- Experience with Embedded Software (Firmware).
- Experience with electronics components selection and sourcing for high-reliability applications.
- Familiarity with standard project management tools and design controls for medical devices or a similarly regulated industry.
- Knowledge of medical devices standards and regulations in particular for Active Implantable Medical Devices.
- Experience with test method development, testing and validation of test methods.
- Knowledge of medical device standards and regulations in particular for Active Implantable Medical Devices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in technical education, or equivalent, with a focus on electrical, mechatronics or electronics engineering, control and automation or an equivalent field.
- Minimum of 5 years of product development and project management experience.
- Fluent command of English, French is a nice-to-have.
