Job description:
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer in Zürich is now hiring experienced Kitchen Assistants/ Line Cooks. We are looking for individuals passionate about food, serving award-winning burgers, and hospitality, interested in working as part of a team, gaining experience in a busy professional kitchen, and desirous of growth and advancement.
Responsibilities:
Main responsible for the preparation of all food items at the station according to specifications and preset time limits
Essential Functions: These requirements/functions may change over the course of employment and are not limited to:
- Follows all recipes, meat temperatures "doneness", portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
- Coordinates the delivery of all foods within preset time standards.
- Demonstrates product standards and recipe knowledge daily during daily Black Tap Line Checks.
- Sets up, maintains side work, and/or closes station for scheduled shift (e.g., preps all appropriate food items, labels, dates, and rotates food items according to FIFO method, breaks down and cleans equipment).
- Sets prep production through the use of daily and weekly sales reports.
- Prepares and plates food items according to specifications and preset time limits.
- Ensures safety and sanitation standards are met.
- Properly uses personal protective equipment (e.g. gloves, head net, etc.)
- Wears disposable gloves when handling raw and ready-to-eat food products, and changes gloves when preparing a new or different food product.
- Responds to all “callbacks” and “echoes” to ensure ordered food is prepared on time.
- Insures Hot food is Hot and served on a warm plate, and Cold food is Cold and served on cold plates.
- Record all waste on the waste sheet when it occurs.
- Communicates any low-on, out-of-stock products, equipment issues, and quality of service problems to the KM and/or FOH immediately.
- Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, receiving, stocking, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in-coolers, and all storage areas.
- Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the KM, GM, or FOH
- Obtains and maintains any certifications required by the local health department.
Requirements
Skills
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook with a minimum of 1 year experience (preferred)
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods including cooking meats to temperature "doneness", ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with the industry’s best practice
