Data Engineer for Applied AI Startup

We are hiring a Data Engineer to a leading and category-defining AI startup in the public affairs space to help scale the core product as the company enters its next phase of growth, approaching 1M EUR ARR, and looking to scale ARR 5x in 2026.

As a Data Engineer, you will own and evolve the data foundation that underpins the core product and AI workflows.

This role focuses on ingesting, storing, and maintaining large volumes of heterogeneous political data. You will work on data quality, performance, and scalability, ensuring that the product remains reliable as we expand into new markets. The role is suited for engineers who enjoy deep ownership of core infrastructure and prefer thoughtful, well-reasoned engineering over rapid feature churn.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines for a large number of external sources
• Own data storage and data modeling decisions that support product and AI use cases
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and freshness across the platform
• Improve performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of data pipelines
• Enable horizontal scaling into new geographic markets through robust data integrations
• Safely evolve data schemas and infrastructure without disrupting production systems
• Collaborate closely with backend, fullstack, and AI engineers to support downstream features
• Take long-term ownership of core data systems and reduce operational risk
• Collaborative, humble, and focused on building what delivers the most value for customers

What You Bring

• A few years of experience designing and building modern data platforms, pipelines and storage systems
• Strong data and software engineering fundamentals
• Comfort handling complex or heterogeneous data sources
• Thoughtful, risk-aware approach to changes in production systems
• Enjoyment of ownership and long-term responsibility for infrastructure
• Ability to collaborate with product-oriented engineering teams
• Collaborative, humble, and focused on building what delivers the most value for customers
