People who build lose nearly a quarter of their working time to things that have nothing to do with building. Ferdinand, an electrician and engineer who had founded companies before, started Benetics AI in 2022 to give that time back. Our first product is a voice assistant for the construction site. It works in over 100 languages and every dialect, and nobody has to type.
More than 400 companies in 10+ countries use Benetics AI: electricians, HVAC installers, timber builders, roofers and solar installers. We are bootstrapped, cash-flow positive and growing in triple digits.
We are now hiring someone to run finance and legal while we expand across Europe and into the US.
Tasks
You report to the CEO and take over finance and legal. Today this work is split between the founders, our fiduciary and outside counsel. You bring it into one place and build it out.
Finance
You own the numbers we run the company on. We are bootstrapped, so no investor money covers a bad month.
- Monthly close on a fixed date, with our fiduciary and auditors
- Operating model, cash forecast and runway in CHF, EUR and USD
- SaaS metrics and billing: ARR, retention, CAC, payback
- Cohort analysis, quote-to-cash and revenue recognition
- Payroll, insurance and tax
Legal
Sales closes a standard deal without you. When a deal is not standard, they hear back from you within a day.
- Contract templates, fallback positions and redlines for order forms, MSAs, partner and supplier agreements and NDAs
- GDPR and revDSG, DPAs, subprocessors, TOMs, and the security questionnaires that come with every enterprise deal
- Insurance, employment law in CH, DE, FR and the US, and the decision on ISO 27001 or SOC 2
Building the group
We are setting up the US subsidiary right now, and you will own it.
- Incorporation, intercompany agreement and transfer pricing between the Swiss parent and the international entity
- Registered agent, state registrations, payroll and sales tax nexus
- A consolidation that stays clean as we add entities
- Choosing the finance and legal tools, and deciding what to automate, what to outsource and what to keep in-house
Requirements
- 5+ years in finance and in either legal or commercial contracting
- Hands-on experience with accounting, payroll and tax
- You redline a SaaS contract yourself and know when to call counsel
- SaaS finance: subscription revenue, retention cohorts, unit economics, quote-to-cash
- Fluent German and English at work. Our customers, our fiduciary and our contracts use both.
- You are happy to be the first hire in the function. You build the model and chase the invoices yourself, with no team under you at the start.
Nice to have
- You have set up a foreign subsidiary before, including intercompany pricing
- Experience with SMB customers and with getting them to pay on time
- Views on finance tools and a habit of automating routine work
The role is hands-on for a while and covers both finance and legal. The title will grow with the company.
Benefits
- You report to the CEO from day one, and your analysis feeds straight into decisions on pricing, hiring and new markets
- A profitable, bootstrapped company with no investor setting the plan. You set the spending rules.
- Finance and legal in one role, with the international entities and the group structure as your own build project
- Freedom to pick your tools and to automate or outsource anything that does not need you
- Office in Zürich, on site Monday to Thursday, flexible hours and holiday planning
- A salary band stated upfront, plus participation
How we hire
- Introduction, 15-minute video call
- Conversation with one of the founders, 30 minutes, about the company, the numbers and the role
- A practical case with the team, remote or in Zürich. We work through our real model and one open question together. There is no homework to hand in.
- Final conversation and decision. We decide quickly and tell you why.
Don't you meet every requirement? Apply anyway. Tell us in two paragraphs about the messiest finance or legal situation you have sorted out. You don't need a cover letter.
