As one of our first hires, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping both our product and technical direction, working closely with the founders from day one.

• Own high-impact projects: Take customer-facing AI-powered features from concept to production.
• Build agentic workflows: Design and build production-ready agentic workflows that equip agents with the right steps and context to automate even the most challenging construction processes.
• Tackle challenging data: Work with some of the most complex and unstructured multimodal data you’ve encountered, and take ownership of building, improving, and scaling our data pipelines.
• Experiment with cutting-edge AI: Explore novel approaches to streamline and enhance construction management workflows.

You will be working closely with Vinzenz (CTO) and Ann (CPO) who own tech and product respectively.

Our Stack:

Tech at a glance: TypeScript, Next.js, Vercel, Supabase (PostgreSQL + vectors), LangChain/LangGraph, TanStack Query, shadcn, Cursor AI

Core Architecture: We use TypeScript across our full-stack Next.js application deployed on Vercel with serverless API routes and fluid compute, maintaining a single repository approach with shared types and utilities. While Vercel costs more than alternatives like AWS or Cloudflare, we prioritize developer velocity and shipping speed over cost optimization - this lets us deploy instantly and iterate rapidly without infrastructure overhead.

Data & State: We use PostgreSQL with vector embeddings through Supabase (Backend-as-a-Service). The frontend directly accesses the database via Supabase's REST and GraphQL clients - we use GraphQL for complex queries to avoid over-fetching and REST for simple operations. Like our Vercel choice, Supabase costs more than managing our own database infrastructure, but the developer experience and speed gains are worth it for our stage. TanStack Query handles our server state management (caching, synchronization, background updates) and we also leverage it for client state management where appropriate.

AI/LLM Stack: We leverage Vercel AI SDK, LangChain, and LangGraph for our agentic workflows. We're currently migrating our Python LangGraph services to TypeScript for better integration with our full-stack setup. For observability and evaluation, we're transitioning from LangSmith to LangFuse to better monitor our LLM performance and costs.

AI-Native Development: We heavily leverage AI within our development workflows and encourage engineers to have an AI spend above $500 per month. We use Cursor Background-Agents extensively, investing heavily in crafting the right prompts to maximize agent capabilities, along with Claude Code for complex tasks. This approach enables our product team to ship minor tech features and bug fixes independently by leveraging AI agents with proper context prompts, leaving the interesting and complex engineering problems for our technical team to solve.

This is the perfect role for an experienced engineer who wants to join an early-stage company and shape the future of construction with applied AI.

• C1 fluency in German – You’ll navigate complex construction industry jargon and must be able to refine prompts or dive deep into our German data to optimize them effectively.
• You're experienced with TypeScript and React/Next.js (2+ years) – When we need a new AI feature with a frontend interface, you can build it without wrestling with React fundamentals or TypeScript quirks.
• You have 1+ years of experience building AI features in the OpenAI and Anthropic era—whether that's RAGs, recommendation engines, or agentic workflows with tools like LangChain.
• You ship fast, are comfortable wearing multiple hats, and take full ownership of your projects. When you say "I'll figure it out," we know it will get done.
• You are comfortable working across the entire stack—from building evaluation frameworks and setting up robust backend services on GCP to launching your own AI features.
• You’re eager to shape our product – whether you do it by analyzing user feedback, ramping up analytics, or championing your own ideas.
• You are self-updating, question your assumptions, and adjusting your strategies whenever you learn something new.
