What is in a Barista’s job description?

A Barista is a talented beverage maker. They famously specialise in creating excellent coffee-based beverages, complete with latte art or artisan twists. However, this isn’t all a Barista should be able to do. They’ll also be able to prepare cold beverages, snacks and sometimes even cocktails as well as have great customer service skills.

Essential parts of a Barista’s job description:

  • Baristas will work mainly face to face with customers, taking orders and preparing drinks and snacks. They may also work with Delivery Drivers to unload stock deliveries.
  • Occasionally, at bigger establishments, they may work with waiters or waitresses by preparing orders and handing them on to these colleagues.
  • Depending on the business, Baristas can either stick to a set menu of recipes for drinks and snacks, or they can help to expand and change the menu.
  • Baristas will usually work in coffee shops, cafes, chains or restaurants but can sometimes work in office buildings or similar establishments.
