Strategic Account Manager

WorkGenius provides the only end-to-end technology solution to source, manage and pay freelancers. 40% of the US workforce will be set to be freelancing by 2025 and only 8% of organisations have the technology to manage them. The company was founded in Hamburg, Germany and expanded to the US with offices in NYC in 2017.

Our Strategic Account Manager will be the main point of contact on accounts and will take full ownership contract renewals while driving upsell opportunities.

Clients that partner with WorkGenius range across both mid-size and enterprise accounts so at least 3 years of experience in a client facing role is necessary. Our ideal candidate can effectively build relationships and offer guidance for our clients on ways to leverage our digital workforce while ensuring account retention and growth. This role will take on a very consultative approach and requires strong business acumen and client-facing abilities.


What you get to do:

  • Take full ownership of accounts and contract renewals/retention, while creating cross-sell and up-sell opportunities
  • Connect and build relationships with existing clients and act as a trusted advisor with an eye for up-sell opportunities
  • Create opportunities to network both within existing accounts by unlocking contacts across new departments as well as referrals to expand our reach
  • Meet monthly and quarterly revenue goals
  • Own an expansion quota for our current client base targeted at the mid-market and Enterprise level
  • Work with Leadership to handle more complicated renewal processes
  • Identify opportunities to expand revenue from current customers through understanding long-term strategic Business and People goals
  • Work closely with Customer Success to lead on touch points with Clients during the subscription year
  • Be able to confidently present our full product suite to existing customers to own up-sell and cross-sell of the WorkGenius platform
  • Identify opportunities to expand current relationships to parent or subsidiary organizations
  • Contribute to the Account Manager Playbook to iterate and create the process for account growth


We are looking for experienced candidates in the customer success space who have exceptional interpersonal skills and a previous track record of growing revenue within accounts.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience in a consultative sale
  • 3-5+ years of account management and/or consulting experience; you believe that the best way to support your clients is to add value to their business by helping them maximize your company's products and services
  • Experience retaining and growing existing accounts - your clients love working with you and it shows in your numbers (as demonstrated by success with high retention and measurable account growth)
  • Analytical savvy with a strong grasp of both sales metrics, processes, and tactics and comfortable understanding and analyzing client-based data
  • Experience working in a start-up setting and enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • Able to articulate well - you're able to engage with people at all levels and from all backgrounds
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, externally and internally
  • Highly motivated and ambitious - you bring a positive attitude to your work and always show up professionally
