Lead Automation & Control Systems Engineer (Lead ACS Engineer)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Automation & Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of process control and automation systems for our cutting-edge Waste-to-Energy (W2E) solutions. You will act as the technical authority for all automation matters, coordinating internal resources and external partners to deliver fully integrated, turnkey plants.

Tasks

  • ACS Design & Development: Lead the design, specification, and development of comprehensive process control systems, including the creation of P&IDs, functional design specifications (FDS), and software configuration for SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Lead Process Engineer and technology department to define control philosophies, interlocks, and alarm management strategies, ensuring the automation system perfectly mirrors the process requirements.
  • Team & Subcontractor Management: Form and lead a team of control and instrumentation engineers. Manage the selection, technical evaluation, and oversight of subcontractors and system integrators.
  • Technical Specifications & Procurement: Develop technical specifications for instrumentation, control hardware, and software. Lead the technical evaluation of vendor proposals and manage RFQ processes.
  • System Integration & Commissioning: Oversee system configuration, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site installation, and commissioning, ensuring a seamless handover to the operations team.

Requirements

  • A degree in Automation, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Lead Engineer or a similar senior role in developing process control systems, preferably within the chemical, oil & gas, or power generation industries.
  • Deep knowledge of modern control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA), industrial networking, and field instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of the complete ACS project lifecycle, from concept and design to installation and commissioning, including relevant standards and safety practices (IEC 61131/61511 is a plus).
  • Experience in team leadership, resource planning, and managing technical subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with processes in the chemical industry or energy sector is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive, results-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
