We are seeking a passionate and driven Entrepreneur-in-residence with a DOer mindset for one of our portfolio projects, penomo, who will lead its tech development.

penomo .io has a big vision - to enable low-cost financing and maximize shared earning to accelerate the shift to a community-owned circular energy economy. We begin by empowering circular EV battery businesses to sustainably thrive by harnessing the power of web3 and regenerative finance, helping them to fully monetize the value they generate. We have secured a €240k research grant in collaboration with renowned German institutes like Fraunhofer HHI. Extensive initial customer research and validation is complete with some of the biggest industry names excited for our launch.

Responsibilities

• Develop the overall technical strategy for the penomo platform, including appropriate technologies and tools selection working closely with the project’s co-founder.
• Lead the development of the platform’s smart contract based application infrastructure and web application.
• Build the early working prototypes and eventually construct a fully scalable product. Alongside - build, manage and lead a high-caliber developer team.
• Actively lead customer discovery calls to identify pain points firsthand and prioritize capabilities that should be built into the platform.
• Serve as penomo’s technical front to liaise with advisors, investors and other stakeholders.
• Monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems, ensuring compliance with security regulations.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the web3 industry, identify new innovation opportunities and apply relevant knowledge in the product’s strategy.

What you bring to the table

• Being hands-on with an aptitude to build-test-learn-deploy fast, especially at the early MVP stage.
• Deep production experience in tech for a full-stack blockchain application (e.g. React + Node + Rust for smart contracts), ideally with a good understanding the Polkadot ecosystem.
• Strong fundamental understanding of smart contract and DeFi ecosystems, their potential and limits.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Good with integrations, having understanding of different APIs to connect software systems robustly.
• Strong leadership, management, and communication skills, with an ability to inspire and motivate a team towards a common goal, especially when things get tough.
• Ability to harmonize your hunger to learn more, push boundaries and delivering results.
• Passion and drive to create an impactful dent in the market, challenging conventions.

Preferred to have

• Previous experience as a technical co-founder, or senior technology leader in a startup, spin-off venture or similar.
• Previous experience in DeFi / carbon finance markets is a huge plus.
• Timezone of CET (+/- 1 hour) is a plus. Ideally open to collaborate in person for some period during the first few months.
