HR Generalist

This position is part of Novanta’s JADAK business unit. JADAK specializes in customized detection and analysis solutions for a wide range of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who rely on JADAK to solve complex inspection, tracking, scanning and documenting challenges in the medical and advanced industrial markets. Our extensive team of engineers collaborate with your team to design, manufacture and implement solutions utilizing a broad portfolio of technologies including machine vision, RFID, barcode and color and light measurement technologies.

As an integral member of the human resources team, the Human Resource Generalist works collaboratively with the broader HR Team and business leaders assisting with the development and deployment of business-driven HR strategies designed to attract, manage, develop, motivate and retain key people while creating a high-performance, sustainable organization capable of achieving the business objectives and action plans. The HR Generalist will be responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise to provide a wide range of HR support and advice. The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering guidance on recruitment, terminations, performance management, employee relations and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between employees and business leaders.

• Provide first-line HR support to business (benefits, employee leaves, payroll issues, work authorization, etc.)
• Support talent acquisition initiatives across the business and lead end-to-end recruitment activities for all hourly positions
• Support a full suite of HR initiatives across organization (employee engagement, talent assessment and succession planning, employee performance review process, talent development)
• Work with first-line management to manage and resolve employee relations and performance concerns
• Identify ways to improve HR policies and procedures
• Responsible for HR system and personnel record maintenance, reporting, and analytics
• Responsible for all employee record keeping and HR compliance (personnel files, unemployment filings,
• Provide high-quality advice and service to management on daily employee relations and performance management issues

• Bachelor’s degree required, PHR Certificate desirable
• Minimum 5 years professional experience working within a human resources function
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal across a wide audience
• Proven ability to deal with conflict and diffuse difficult situations
• Demonstrate discretion, able to work with sensitive and confidential materials, and demonstrate good judgment
• Ability to understand, interpret, communicate, and align policies and practices to the Novanta Values and Code of Ethics
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
• Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
• Skilled user of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Prior experience with an HRIS system (i.e. Workday, SuccessFactors, etc.) preferred
• Comfort with pivot charts and tables preferred
• General knowledge of employment laws and ability to apply legal concepts to real world situations preferred
