Technical Lead (full stack) - permanent & full time in Berlin

Driven by the vision to improve well-being and therapy outcomes of cancer patients, we are creating a digital companion for cancer patients, the Mika-App. Mika, founded in 2017 by Dr. Gandolf Finke and Dr. Jan Simon Raue is a VC-backed e-health company. We are an experienced and spirited team with the passion to make a difference for those affected by cancer.

The development team is currently quite small but growing and brings a lot of experience across several platforms. Our product is centered around the native Android and iOS Apps with an integration to a Django backend. You would work along with Android and iOS developers and together you will be responsible for all technical aspects of the Mika-App. Moreover, you will work closely with our Data Science Team that is responsible for a platform providing the right medically supportive content in the Mika-App for each user. This content is created by our own Content team that you also will work closely with to create a reliable and efficient content delivery process. This is a great opportunity to leverage and grow your leadership skills, and to grow our technical capabilities to enable future expansion.


  • Take responsibility for the overall architecture of the Mika-App
  • Ensure feature development efforts are aligned with product roadmap and goals
  • Defining / shaping quality standards & development processes
  • Support & coaching for engineering team including frontend and backend
  • Facilitating architectural decisions for our platform and features and steering the team to implement those features on the Mika backend & frontend
  • Hands on development work to support the teams
  • Defining and shaping our agile culture and development processes
  • Working closely with product management & UX to carry the vision & business goals via the Mika platform
  • Coordinating with our Data Science team for analytics and personalisation features
  • Interface with external DevOps team to manage services supporting new features



  • 5 years + experience working in a fast paced, results driven startup or equivalent
  • Experience leading & coaching technical teams
  • Facilitating technical decisions in the team and achieving alignment on architecture, tooling, coding paradigms & standards
  • Expert knowledge of Django REST Framework and Python
  • Good working knowledge of front-end technologies and native SDKs for iOS & Android
  • Expert knowledge of Git & Docker
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Nice to have

  • Experience scaling technical frameworks and teams
  • Development of internationalised products / platforms
  • Experience with Graylog, Sentry
  • Expert knowledge of the AWS tech stack
  • Basic knowledge of Android/iOS Development
  • Basic front-end web skills (HTML, CSS, JS)
