About the Role:

icon incar is seeking an Account Director to help grow our global business within the automotive and mobility UI/UX sector. The Account Director is responsible for building and maintaining key client relationships, generating new business, and leading clients into the future of automotive and mobility digital experiences. The Account Director will be primarily working with the internal HMI and UI/UX departments of our clients. The position will report to the Chief Operations Officer of icon incar and is located in Detroit. Remote work is possible but regular onsite meetings are mandatory.

What will you do?


  • Maintain and grow key client relationships in the automotive and mobility sectors
  • Develop and implement account growth strategies, engagement plans, and working methodologies with the support of relevant teams
  • Ability effectively communicate with senior clients to address feedback in real time
  • Support establishing new sustainable business models and opportunities by understanding the client and wider trends within the automotive industry in order to create horizontal and vertical business opportunities
  • Develop and facilitate the proposal process for clients including budget and pricing development, proposal writing, contract negotiations
  • Oversee the client P&L together with division heads and their teams
  • Clearly convey information and status updates about projects and initiatives to both internal and external partners and teams
  • The ability to quickly anticipate and translate client side business and marketing requirements into viable solutions
  • Define and manage KPI to track success across all phases of business
  • Deliver innovative strategic thinking and inspiration to both internal and external partners
  • Provide leadership, feedback, and training to project and account managers
  • Lead clients into the future of automotive and connected digital experiences
  • Cultivate relationships and be a leader within the wider digital experience industry
  • Aggressively pursue new ways to contribute to the overall agency and client profitability

Who are you?


  • Degree in business, finance or other related field, Masters in Business Administration a plus
  • 7+ years of agency or client-side experience within a digital agency and 4+ years of account management experience including collaborating with teams to deliver shared projects
  • Deep understanding of the automotive sector preferred, HMI and UI/UX work a plus
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Hubspot) and Microsoft Office, Excel
  • Track record in managing blue chip accounts and working with internal design teams
  • Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of strategic business plan initiatives that support client business success in a global environment.
  • Experience in mapping a B2B customer journey
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail and proven follow through skill, highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; exceptional presentation skills
  • Excellent client service skills including the ability to quickly anticipate and interpret client needs
  • Comfortability with budgets and finance processes
  • Willingness to travel with current focus on North America and European markets
  • Ability to speak German, Chinese, or Spanish a plus
