Java Developer (f/m/d)

The vision of DoctorBox is to simplify your life by integrating your medical information into one app. With the DoctorBox app, you can share medical records, track your medication intake and receive test results – all at once.

We are now entering a new phase in our development. The aim is to build a marketplace for digital healthcare applications that will allow our users to access healthcare solutions – from diagnosis to home testing kits. As a budding “super app”, our focus is on integrating healthcare partners and services to support everyone on their journey to live a longer, healthier life.

We are constantly looking to build innovative healthcare solutions, improve our usability, and scale our business. We have already done so with our specialized COVID-19 testing software and intend on maintaining our success in this new phase. To do so, we want to strengthen our IT team by recruiting a Java engineer (f/m/d) to lead our developers and business through this transition.

Role Purpose

The Java Developer should assume a proactive and leading role in the design and realization of the infrastructure across our business while taking commercial impact and business objectives into consideration. You will work closely with our VP of Engineering to expand and develop our high-security infrastructure, therefore further securing our users’ sensitive medical data. You will receive a variety of tasks as well as ample freedom and responsibilities for the implementation.

• Design, implement and iteratively create back-end services
• Participate in API design and implementation for both internal APIs and those exposed to our third-party integrators
• Help to deliver business value by taking decisions related to the back end and actively participate in product discussions and code reviews with other engineers
• Provide comprehensive documentation, good test coverage and improve code quality
• Collaborate with other software developers, QA and DevOps engineers to ensure smooth deployment, continuous integration and support for the software we deliver

Must-haves:

• You have an excellent knowledge of the Java programming language.
• You are experienced with Java EE.
• You are familiar with SQL (PostgreSQL is an advantage).
• You have experience with software testing (unit and integration tests).
• You understand fundamental system architecture, design principles, data modeling, and API design (RESTful services).
• You have a passion for clean, maintainable, and testable code.

• Cryptography (Certificate Infrastructure, Bouncy castle, OpenSSL)
