Breathe Battery Technologies is a spin-out from Imperial College London developing a new class of battery management software. The company was founded in pursuit of universally clean air and a sustainable earth. Today Breathe is actively developing the technologies to improve battery safety, performance and cost, to support the electrification of our planet’s transport systems.

We create battery state estimation and control methods that provide deep insights into battery health. We use these insights to improve the battery and to provide great software products to the automotive and consumer electronics markets.

Tasks

We are an engineering business, so you can expect a high volume of transactions. This is supported by robust systems and processes.

  • Raising purchase orders in our expense system Spendesk, managing the purchasing mailbox and liaising directly with suppliers
  • Raising any issues with suppliers or escalating internally
  • Supporting our Head of Finance with proposing payment schedules
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders in Spendesk
  • Raising sales invoices in our accounting system, Xero and managing credit control
  • Supporting external accountants with month end reconciliations (answering queries, problem solving on mismatched / missing invoices)
  • Supporting team with expense reimbursement queries
  • Compliance with internal controls
  • Ad hoc finance work as required

Requirements

You have a passion for finance and want to ensure the smooth running of financial operations within a fast-paced start-up. You enjoy problem solving and have a strong attention to detail. You understand the need to maintain records, tracking and reporting for tax & VAT purchases. You are highly organised with a can-do attitude. You are able to work well under pressure and are excellent at multitasking.

  • 1+ years’ experience in a finance position
  • A good understanding of bookkeeping rules, with a desire to learn and develop your skillset
  • Experience with using accounting and expense software, Xero and Spendesk experience would be a bonus
  • Naturally good at numbers and proactive in solving problems
  • Highly organised, able to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • An outstanding communicator with a friendly approach
  • Driven, trustworthy and a team player

Please note, this role is part-time initially at 2 days per week. We expect there will be opportunities to increase to more days per week in the future.
