Consultant (m/f/d) Energy and Climate Policy

Berlin Economics advises governments worldwide on economic and energy policy issues. Our clients include German federal ministries, the GIZ, the European Commission, and international institutions such as the OECD and the World Bank. Our focus is on emerging and transition economies, particularly in Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans, Caucasus and Central Asia. To strengthen our energy and climate department, we are looking for a Consultant (m/f/d) Energy and Climate Policy.

• Coordinating and proactively defining major topics for our energy and climate policy consulting, particularly the main project “Low Carbon Ukraine”
• Coordinating and writing policy papers, studies, and presentations as lead author, together with the project team
• Technical and methodological supervision of the project analysts
• Representing the project and presentation of results to high-ranking political partners
• Analysis of large data sets and performing model-based analyses
• Regular business trips in the project countries

• Master’s degree in Economics / Energy Economics or equivalent, PhD is an asset
• Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience
• In-depth knowledge of energy and climate policy issues
• Affinity for analytical work based on quantitative data, such as macroeconomic, energy and climate modelling
• Programming knowledge in Python, R, Matlab, or similar platforms is an asset
• Ability to work in a team, self-reliance, high degree of reliability and accuracy
• Fluency in English is essential, working knowledge of German highly desirable, other languages (esp. Russian/Ukrainian) are an asset
