Database Engineer

Developed in close collaboration with Switzerland's largest retailer, a leading research institute and supported by the Swiss Government Technology Fund, Axino's IoT sensor technology and AI-based algorithms provides retailers with a sustainable way to ensure product safety, reduce food wastage, and reduce costs. Axino customers can remotely monitor the core temperature of food products enabling them to reduce energy usage and workload costs.

We are hiring a Database Engineer to help build and optimize the performance of the data-layer of our application stack that will revolutionize the way retailers handle food safety and sustainability. You will be contributing to the future direction of our data-layer, building new features, writing new support programs and scripts, and troubleshooting database code. You will work alongside an international, english speaking team of engineers, product managers and designers.

• Designing, building, and maintaining the data layer of Axino’s cloud-based application
• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of existing database programs
• Writing new support programs and scripts to increase data storage capacity and performance
• Performing debugging procedures on database scripts and programs, as well as resolving conflicts
• Adhering to best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving data
• Documenting processes related to database design, configuration, and performance
• Keeping abreast of developments and best practices in database engineering

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or similar
• A minimum of 4 years experience in database engineering
• In-depth knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Extensive experience with database technologies and architecture
• Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering and data security
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
