For around 25 years Adfinis has been driving digital transformation through open standards and technologies, shaping a world of innovative, sustainable, and resilient IT solutions built on reliable open-source technology.
Our Swiss-based Internal IT team, consisting of 8 system engineers, provides a range of services including web applications on Kubernetes, Linux desktops, centralized SSO authentication, monitoring, and backup solutions to an expanding, international user base of around 100 IT professionals and 20 non-technical staff. Our daily work evolves around the continuous modernization, automation, and maintenance of our technology stack, ensuring the delivery of high-quality IT support and solutions.
To expand our team, we’re seeking a Senior System Engineer. In this role, you will lead internal IT projects, shape internal standards, and help maintain high-quality work.
Tasks
What You Will Do
- Take the lead on internal projects, keeping everybody on the same page
- Turn ideas into solid plans, figure out the best solutions, and make them even better
- Keep our service setup running smoothly
- Design, build, and improve our tech systems to keep up with what we need
- Write documentation that’s clear, organized, and actually read by people
- Handle the tricky, high-stakes third-level support issues
- Be the go-to person for technical advice and support for the team
Requirements
Must-Have Hard Skills
- Troubleshooting and designing solid, reliable service landscapes
- Automating and improving existing setups and building new solutions from scratch
- Understanding, designing, and implementing reliable networks
- Design secure solutions and respond to security incidents with the right fixes
- Presenting to big internal groups and running training sessions in English
Must-Have Soft Skills
- Being a hands-on team player, ready to lend a hand when needed
- Striving for quality, taking full responsibility for your work
- Tackling tough problems, figuring out what works, coming up with smart solutions

Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with web servers, LDAP, OpenID Connect, KVM Virtualization, Bash, Python, Terraform, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GitLab & GitOps, networking, and server hardware.
- B2 level of German and English, preferably C1
